GREELEYVILLE —
Ronald Smith “Smitty” Ross Jr., 59, died Thursday, December 7, 2006, in a Charleston
hospital.
Mr. Ross was born March 17, 1947,
in Sumter, a son of the late Helen McKnight and Ronald
S. Ross Sr. He was a graduate of Greeleyville High School and Wayne
Community College
in Goldsboro, NC,
and had retired from the forestry industry after 35
years. Mr. Ross was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War
and received the Bronze Star with three Oak Leaf
Clusters with V Device of heroism. He was a member of Mt. Vernon United Methodist
Church,
the Sons of Confederate Veterans, the Vietnam Vets of
America, ABATE, the Sons of the Confederacy, SCVM, and
the Mechanized Cavalry of the Sons of Confederate
Veterans.
Surviving: his
wife, Margaret Lesesne Ross of Greeleyville; three
daughters, Kellen (Daniel) Puzewski of Sumter, Annie
Manning and her fiance, Dave Ernst of Mt. Pleasant, and
Mary (Matthew) Wood of Clayton, NC; a brother, Michael
C. Ross of Greeleyville; and two grandchildren, Peyton
Puzewski and Anna Margaret Puzewski.
Graveside funeral
services will be 3
p.m. Sunday in Mt.
Hope Cemetery
in Greeleyville, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home
of Kingstree. The family suggests memorials to Mt.
Vernon United
Methodist Church.
